Perfumery

The line Parfums d’Imperfiction is an embodiment of stories that have touched the perfumer. Stories of new lands, stories of new people, stories of dreams, stories of adventure, stories of wisdom, stories of stories.

Playing with the words, Imperfiction makes reference to the word “fiction” – each perfume carries the name of a novel – of a story of people and places that inspire the notes, the building blocks of the perfume, the emotions it would convey, the complexity and variety. Each perfume is a challenge of reproducing the mood of the novel – of creating associations between people and places – and smells.

The other connotation of the name of line refers to the word “imperfection” – because each story is an illusion – literature is not a reflection of reality, and it is not reality. Literature is an intellectual creation – an imperfect reality if you want. Each perfume is thus not a representation of reality but of a surrealistic idea – of a non-existent smell, of a new image, of an innovative idea.

What lies in each bottle is the one-man interpretation – further making each piece an imperfect in a way. Centered around high quality natural ingredients, the perfumes should be worn with a book in hand – just like any book can influence the creation of a perfume.
